Samsung Semiconductor India Integrates Keysight’s 5G Test Automation for Enhanced Efficiency

SINGAPORE, July 1, 2024 – Samsung Semiconductor India Research (SSIR) has adopted Keysight Technologies’ Signaling Field-To-Lab (S-FTL) solution to streamline and automate their 5G field-to-lab workflow at their Bengaluru lab. This strategic move aims to improve the quality of experience (QoE) for end-users by accelerating the replication, analysis, and resolution of complex 5G field issues within a lab setting.

With the global rollout of 5G, ensuring optimal user experience by quickly addressing field-reported issues has become crucial. Replicating intricate field scenarios in a lab to identify solutions is a significant challenge, often involving extensive analysis of field logs that may contain errors or lack critical data. The Keysight S-FTL solution addresses this challenge by automating the process, enabling faster and more accurate replication of field issues in a controlled environment.

SSIR selected Keysight’s S-FTL solution to enhance their test lab’s capabilities, allowing engineers to focus on resolving field issues rather than analyzing logs or creating test cases. This solution automates the creation of test cases from device field logs, analyzing logs for 5G, 4G, and IMS, making necessary protocol adjustments, and replicating the scenarios as test scripts. The open input log template of S-FTL supports various formats, facilitating quicker integration into the workflow.

Implementing the Keysight S-FTL solution has significantly reduced the time SSIR takes to replicate field scenarios in the lab, allowing engineers to dedicate more time to improving end-user QoE. This solution has effectively addressed a range of real-world issues, including voice and data calls, handovers, 5G to 4G mobility, and carrier aggregation across different deployments.

Balajee Sowrirajan, Corporate EVP & MD of SSIR, emphasized the positive impact of the partnership with Keysight: “Our collaboration with Keysight has enabled us to recreate real-world field scenarios in a lab environment, accelerating the resolution of communication and connectivity issues for our wireless modem customers. The S-FTL solution has significantly reduced validation costs and turnaround time, ensuring reliability and cost-effectiveness, which are critical in today’s fast-evolving telecommunications landscape.”

Cao Peng, Vice President and General Manager of Keysight’s Wireless Test Group, expressed satisfaction with the collaboration: “We are pleased to support SSIR’s strategic goals during the current 5G technology phase. Keysight’s automated test solutions for replicating field issues enhance process efficiency, helping leaders like SSIR accelerate the commercial introduction of 5G devices and networks.”

The integration of Keysight’s S-FTL solution marks a significant step forward in optimizing 5G testing processes, ultimately benefiting the end-users with a superior connectivity experience.
